AD#2 went very well!

Our second installment of the “Animated Discussion” series went very well.  A lot of new faces– and a few old friends!

Alexo, a young man who has found a bit of YouTube fame from his Halo 3 Machinima shows, showed up with his mom and her friend Skip.  He showed us a bit of his work.  If you’re not aware, Machinima is where you use clips from game play, and use it as your actors, then you fill in the voiceovers and music to create a story.

We talked a bit about Avatar, and looked at some great behind the scenes footage.  The new mocap and performance capture systems that Jim Cameron has developed is seriously a quantum leap ahead from the previous state of the art!  We also talked a bit about Game Development, but since nobody from game dev industries showed up, we’re going to try that again at a future discussion.

Once more, we want to thank Mark and Allison for letting us use the fabulous Expert Electronics “Showplace” in the Village at Grosse Pointe.  It’s truly a unique venue for meetings, parties and just hanging out!
